Top 5 Beauty Favorites of 2017.

A big hi to all reading this, and I hope you’re having a great week!

Next Monday, we step into a new year altogether and bring on newer experiences into our lives. And it will be a year since I came here to Seattle, which passed surprisingly fast.

Jumping back into today’s post, I have compiled a list of five beauty products that I completely ended up falling in love with in 2017. This is a very honest list of products, because it took me about 5 minutes to completely realize which ones the winning ones are.

Makeup takes the cake here, but one skincare product which I’ve been keeping mum about for a while now has made it here. Let’s take a look at my pick of 2017’s winning beauty products, shall we?

SKIN TYPE: Combination-dry.

SKIN TONE: Medium, warm.

Belif The True Cream-Aqua Bomb

img_1700The story behind buying this moisturizer goes like this- I went into Sephora on a September afternoon, and the rest.. is history. Just kidding. I had read some rave reviews about this moisturizer, and decided to check it out in store before investing in it. Why do I use the word ‘investing’ here, you ask? Because I forked out close to $40 for a moisturizer, which is something I would never do. I’m more of a drugstore girl, I like to think. But just this once, I made the right decision in skincare by buying this moisturizer from Korean brand Belif.

WHAT I LIKED:

  • It is a lightweight, bouncy gel-cream hybrid moisturizer that has a light blue color.
  • The fragrance is like freshness captured in a jar, and not overpowering at all.
  • When I apply this on my face, I am refreshed by its cooling sensation and my skin drinks it up. It leaves a dewy, natural finish and isn’t sticky at all.
  • I use it in the mornings, in the night, under my makeup- it works beautifully all ways for my sensitive skin.
  • I have not once suffered any allergic reactions from it, which is a common theme for me when I try any skincare product.

Smith’s Rosebud Salve

img_1705This is a cult beauty product that all those cool, IT girls seem to be carrying around for a pouty, natural look. I can see why it is appealing, and it’s not just the super affordable price point. This salve is a classic multipurpose beauty product, a real money and space saver.

WHAT I LIKED:

  • It comes in a non-fussy tin packaging, which plastic-free beauty aficionados would appreciate.
  • The product is thick but non-sticky, and goes on glossy. It has a light rose fragrance, which is reminiscent of vintage times.
  • I use it as a lip balm, as a highlighter, for the glossy lid look a la editorial magazines, and to moisturizer my dry knuckles.
  • It is moisturizing and makes my lip look a little plump.
  • The product is under $10 for being a superb multipurpose winner. Need I say more?

MAC Satin Lipstick-Twig

img_1711I know, I know- you might want to hit me with a baseball bat for bringing this product up again and again. But cupid struck me clean in the bum on this one, because I am head over heels in love with this MAC lipstick!

img_1713

WHAT I LIKED LOVED:

  • The formula of this lipstick is satin, which means it’s much more comfortable than a all-out matte one. But it settles down to a matte finish after a few minutes, and doesn’t budge all that easily.
  • The color is a warm nude brown-pink, which I can wear without a moment’s hesitation with any outfit. A fancy dress or pajamas, this lipstick just adds that hint of being put-together in an instant.
  • I love the clean, minimalist black packaging. Though it is made of plastic, it doesn’t feel flimsy. Plus, it looks amazing in flatlay photos. Win-win, right?

L’Oreal Infallible-The Super Slim Liquid Eyeliner

This product has amazed me with one fact, to begin with- how LONG it has lasted in my makeup stash. I bought it in January, and here it still is! I have used my fair share of liquid eyeliners, but this one beats them all.

img_1708

WHAT I LIKED:

  • The liquid pen eyeliner is very easy to use, even for someone like me who doesn’t know how to draw winged lines well.
  • The pigment is jet black, and it hasn’t dried out even after 12 months of use. It draws well on top of eyeshadows, which isn’t always the case with all liquid eyeliners.
  • It stays put on the lids and doesn’t fade away quickly, even when I cry. Which is something I do, a lot.
  • It is certified drugstore gold, being inexpensive as hell (or is it heaven?).

L’Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes

Oh, world- what would we do without mascara? It takes us from looking sleep-derived, or looking like Uriah Heep (David Copperfield in the haus, y’all) to a bambi-eyed beauty. Okay maybe that’s just me, but this mascara from L’Oreal definitely helps my lashes out. Also, that packaging is like $$$$.

WHAT I LIKED:

  • The formula is a thin liquid, not a goopy mess that clumps up. It coats my lashes evenly because of this reason, and doesn’t flake as such.
  • I bought the non-waterproof version, but my God can it hold up well! It seriously doesn’t come off when I wash my face.
  • It brings in a healthy amount of length and volume, making me look wide-awake even when I didn’t have a good night’s sleep.

Club no falsies, anyone? Buy it here.

Here’s a final look, with just these five beauty products on my face.
