Hi one and all! Hope you’re having a bangin’ week and powering through the winter blues. (Or maybe its just me who has a case of the blues?)
Today, I’m going to be talking about some celebrities/IT girls/bloggers I’ve been looking at for style inspiration. I get my dose of outfit inspiration through Pinterest and Instagram predominantly.
My style has evolved over the last year, and I’ve been skewed way more towards neutral, minimalist-style outfits. I am head over heels in love with multipurpose color and outfit pieces, because it means I don’t have to break the bank buying more and more clothes.
These style icons (at least to me) are some you may already know very well, and I admire the ‘everyday’ element to their outfits. They define comfort and are wearable by any woman out there, which is very important to me.
So without further ado, let’s jump right in. Shall we?
If you scroll through this Parisian’s Instagram account, you’ll immediately feel the French quotient. Jeanne Damas has a very girl-next-door, demure style that is quite feminine at its heart. You will see this reflected in those stylish shots of her strolling down quaint streets, as she relaxes in her apartment and in Rouje, her online retail shop.
Jeanne Damas’ wardrobe consists of straight cut or girlfriend jeans, a cute button down shirt or two, deep necked blouses, a blazer, feminine wrap dresses, wicker bags and delicate gold jewelry. And those cute tie up espadrilles she seems to always be wearing- they define spring and summer! Her hairstyle is another feature that somehow makes it her style.. its the tousled collarbone-length hair with messy baby bangs. Her color palette is filled with neutrals, but styled effortlessly to look so chic and wearable. Take a look at this video to see a quick interview on her style.
Jeanne’s beauty beat is very “5 minutes and out the door”- her signature being a worn-in red or berry matte lip. She says she mixes 2 or 3 MAC lipsticks and taps it on her lips with her fingers. I have seen a few videos of her on YouTube, and she seems to be a drugstore girl who prefers to keep makeup very pared down to a routine. A dry shampoo, good skincare and a bold lip is what defines her approach to beauty.
Her vibe is: drinking coffee in a cafe, soft music playing in the background, a book in a bag and lost in her own private world.
Let’s start by stating the undeniable truth about Emily Ratajkowski- she is VERY beautiful. If Barbie was real, it would look a lot like Emily. The famous model, IT girl and actress has a long, lean frame that makes her look gorgeous in any outfit she wears. Emily’s style, I would say, has a lot of black and light blue slim fit jeans. Her style is laid-back, and a typical off-duty model one. She seems to favor black boots, sneakers and open toed stiletto heels for shoes. She also has been spotted carrying smaller, crossbody bags most often in a black or nude color. Her outfit formula is pairing one feminine clothing piece with a more masculine one.
Emily’s beauty take is best documented on red carpet and formal events, where her makeup is done by the famous Hung Vanngo. The celebrity makeup artist loves dolling up Emily with a bold eye and nude lip look very often. And it works so well on her olive complexion!
Her vibe is: walking down the streets with a Starbucks cup in hand, her dark sunglasses on and the paparazzi snapping away.
I have been following this very practical and stylish blogger called Signe, from uselesswardrobe.dk and Youtube channel ‘Use Less’ for a while now. Signe works in the fashion industry, and is a Danish sustainable lifestyle influencer. She is the perfect blogger to look at for minimalist, capsule wardrobe style inspiration. She has it down to a tee, and is super helpful in sharing her process of curating her wardrobe too!
Signe’s style is centered on neutrals, with a rotating color palette of grey, white, blue and black. She also wears seasonal colors like blush and red during the warmer and colder months respectively. Her sense of style is refined and wearable, and is very focused on the philosophy of ‘less is more’. She does not wear too many print and pattern-heavy clothing, and keeps it basic but stylish. Her wardrobe is one I’d love to steal from, and is filled with well-thought and well-picked choices of blazers, boyfriend jeans, loose tees, and button-down shirts. Her go-to accessories are black and brown boots, and delicate gold jewelry. Her long bob hairstyle adds to her style persona, and distinctly defines her.
Her beauty beat is focused on an ‘au natural’ look, translating to healthy skin and a nude lip. She uses natural makeup products to lightly enhance her features. Since she is a minimalist, she has few beauty products that she utilizes to the maximum. I find her approach to fashion and beauty to be very refreshing and back-to-basics, i.e, finding maximum use out of what you already own.
Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany’s
How can I not talk about the very classy Holly Golightly of ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ in a fashion post? Audrey Hepburn was so gorgeous and well-styled in each outfit in the film; even the clothes she slept in! I love the tasseled earplugs she wore, the cute blue sleeping eye mask, and the outfits.. oh my!
The style from the film still reigns today, as seen by the relaxed and fitted high waisted pants, the iconic Givenchy black floor length dress she wore in the opening scene of the movie, the turtleneck, the beige trench coat, the kitten heels, the ornate hats she wore, the statement orange double breasted long coat which I personally love, the colorful pink dress she wore.. can you tell that I’m in love with Holly Golightly’s style?
Her accessories du jour back then were oversized sunglasses, statement earrings and that string-of-pearls necklace, which complemented the neutral and solid outfits very well. For the beauty aspect, Holly Golightly was seen wearing a peachy nude lipstick throughout the film. She also wore a cat-eye style liner and I could even detect va-va-voom lashes in play. To this day, I think that any woman can draw inspiration from Audrey Hepburn’s style in the film and pull off any of the classy looks she wore with such grace.
